CARITAS Home Health

Bardstown, KY. 40004

Initial home assessment completed by RN on initial evaluation.

  • Telehealth Coordinator makes follow up call
    • phone jack
    • electrical outlet
    • table (wooden TV dinner trays work great for the units we use)
    • caregiver (if needed)
  • Installation Kit (items most needed)
    • 3 way plug adapter (ground plug)
    • Long phone line cord (15”)
  • Equipment Set up
    • Equipment can be set up most anywhere in the home that patient can get to and comfortably sit for visit. We have put equipment in the kitchen, family room, and bedroom. We’ve had it on kitchen tables, counter tops, end tables, and currently have one sitting on top of 2 large stereo speakers and patient sits in chair in front of it. It works great for him. We have had 1 bed fast patient and used his bedside table during visit then moved to a dinner tray when not in use.

The dinner trays are easy for patients or caregivers to move when not in use.

Overall we have had very little difficulty with home setups
  • Recommendation
    • provide dust covers for monitors
  • Home situations/considerations
    • Patient was appropriate- home was appropriate ---however had
multiple small children in the home (that attacks RN nursing bag
during in home visits etc.), unable to safely leave telehealth equipment.

Pets, especially cats try to get cords, BP tubing, stethoscope cord, etc.

Had a home with multiple flies, telehealth equipment very soiled with
fly droppings at time of pick up (recommend covers for equipment).

Odors/smoke—absorbed by BP cuff material, need plan to deodorize or launder.
